What is Arc Welding?
Arc welding is a fusion process used to join metals by creating an electric arc between an electrode and the base metal. The system generates intense heat of up to 6,500 degrees Celsius at the weld point, melting both materials to form a strong, unified bond upon cooling.
To protect the molten weld pool from atmospheric contamination such as nitrogen and oxygen, a shielding gas is introduced. Common arc welding methods include MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and stick (SMAW), each optimized for specific material thicknesses, speeds, and production environments.
